Our stated goal is to help every delegate advance his or her performance in committee. Thus, we do not require a position paper, but concentrate on evaluating and giving extensive feedback. Every delegate will receive an individual report of his or her performance, both scores and comments on an Excel spreadsheet and cumulative statistics through ChairMUN.
MM-MUN’s Scoring Criteria for Performance Awards is extensive, detailed and published on the Marymount MUN website. Click here for the criteria.
Every annual conference is themed, all committee topics crafted around a globally relevant issue.
Topic synopses are well-researched, well-written and posted in advance on the Marymount MUN website. They always provide several resources for in-depth research as well as questions for the committee.
Country assignments are made even-handedly to all schools in the effort to give countries with strong policies to every delegation.
Our unique “mini crises,” usually two in every committee at every committee level, are crafted specifically for the topic of each committee, creatively delivered, and carefully explained by the dais in order to move debate forward. This is a fun way to introduce even novice delegates to thinking on their feet!
MM-MUN’s conference schedule is uniquely designed to finish all committee action before a substantial late lunch. Thus, every action of every delegate is scored up until the last moment of committee. The conference is completed by 3 PM, and students and advisors are free to explore UCLA across Sunset Boulevard or West Los Angeles in the evening.
The food @ MM-MUN is always great! We provide breakfast for our guest moderators, a late morning snack for the delegates and a late, but always yummy lunch. We are especially famous for dessert - Diddy Riese cookie and ice cream sandwiches!
Another primary goal of MM-MUN has always been to encourage non-curricular MUN programs. Thus, we particularly welcome the participation of small delegations from new MUN clubs and make every effort to review MUN procedures in committee, if necessary.
In order to encourage future MUN participation at all levels, MM-MUN awards a physical gavel in EVERY committee.
