MM-MUN 2023 - IN-PERSON
Marymount High School, Los Angeles 3 March 2024 Theme: “We The Peoples." Registration, Fees, Deadlines: The school registration fee is $40; the individual delegate fee is $35. The fee for each extra adult moderator, student advisor or student “shadow” is $25 (see below under "Supervision" for definition of "extra"). Checks should be made out to “Marymount High School – MUN.” All fees should be paid in advance; deadline Wednesday, 28 February 2024. The final delegation count will also be due 28 February 2024 and refunds will not be issued after that date. Supervision: At least one adult Moderator/Faculty Advisor per school delegation must remain on campus throughout the conference to provide supervision for their students. The recommended supervision of high school students is 1:15. Only participating/paid students with Moderators/Faculty Advisors are permitted to attend. Additional Moderators/Faculty Advisors beyond the 1:15 ratio will be charged a $25 fee to offset costs. Food: Snacks at the 11 AM break and lunch and In-N-Out food truck will be on campus (1:00-2:30 PM). We will provide soda at lunch but we will not provide bottled water and encourage all participants to bring their own personal water bottle. Attire: The dress code for delegates is the standard “Western Business Attire” required at all MUN conferences, and will be enforced. Parking & Security: Free parking is available on campus; however, carpooling and busing are greatly appreciated as the parking lot is not large. Marymount Security will be available all day at the entrance kiosk to check in delegations, provide directions and answer questions. Single vs. Dual Delegates: All committees are single delegate unless specifically noted in the Topic Synopsis for each committee. Position Papers: The focus of the conference will be diplomacy & performance and therefore, position papers are not required. Nonetheless, delegates are urged to prepare their topics and speeches thoroughly in advance in order to create substantive debate in committee.

Pre-written Resolutions: Pre-written resolutions are never permitted and violators will not receive awards. They will also be reported to their Faculty Advisors/Moderators. Awards: Individual performance awards will be presented at three levels in every committee – Best Delegate Gavel, Outstanding, and Commendation. No delegation awards are given. Committee score sheets will be sent to Moderators/Faculty Advisors within two weeks after the conference. Access MM-MUN's Scoring Criteria here. Technology Statement: Delegates are welcome to bring laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronics to be used constructively during committee. Free, one-day guest access to the Internet through Marymount’s provider will be given. Delegates are expected to follow the same rules as Marymount's Technology Acceptable Use Policy. Resolutions will be projected, not printed and delegates may email or use Google Docs in real time to create and share Resolutions. Delegates who do not have access to technology will not be penalized in any way. Unprofessional or non-constructive use of electronic devices will not be permitted and each dais reserves the right to confiscate any electronic device being used in an inappropriate or distracting manner, to be returned to the student's Moderator/Faculty Advisor at the end of the conference.
